Nainital district

Nainital is both a town and a district in Kumaon. The district extends beyond the Naini lakefront. Its administrative and visitor geography includes hill settlements as well as places such as Haldwani, Kaladhungi, Lalkuan and Ramnagar. A search for a local service is more useful when the town or neighbourhood appears alongside the district.

The lake district

Bhimtal, Sattal and Naukuchiatal have their own entries on the district tourism website. They should not be collapsed into a single Nainital-town address. Mukteshwar is another separately described destination. Distinguishing these places helps readers plan a route and helps businesses reach people searching in the right area.
